After participating in three well known juried Fine art and craft shows among promoted craft shows I come to realize that many people view my gates as works of Art not just functional landscape ornamental objects.
While I am excited about how artistic i can make my Gates i realized that maybe i can move further with producing truly’ Fine Art ‘ out of wood with Wall Sculptures . So… i have been at the drawing board and think i have some interesting shapes and contrasts in wood that may appeal to fine art patrons .Some of these sculptures will be quite large.
I plan on having a group of these works finished in time for next winter /spring art shows.

It seems in the mill work and to a lesser extent in the lumber industry workers rename wood to suit here needs.Let me explain,During the last decade I noticed Mahogany being sold as White Mahogany , Royal Mahogany, Santos Mahogany,Philippine mahogany, etc..These are NOT true Mahogany’s and different Species altogether, they do not exhibit the characteristics that someone would expect of genuine Mahogany. They are considerably cheaper in cost(wholesale) than genuine Mahogany. There is only one true Mahogany(Swietenia macrophylla) or Genuine Mahogany which weathers very well .There is a Florida Mahogany (Swietenia mahogoni ) a true Mahogany, that is not used very much commercially but when used lumped in with Genuine Mahogany. There is African Mahogany(.Khaya spp.) which is in the Mahogany family(distant cousin) but does not weather well compared to genuine Mahogany and sometimes used incorrectly (outdoor exposure). My point is make sure before you buy to insist that invoice states exactly what you are buying.More important make sure you buy from reputable dealer.
